چکیده
ABSTRACT Left–right asymmetries are consistent differences between the left and right sides represent an intriguing feature of molluscan morphology. Interestingly, external asymmetries, such as inequivalve shells, often coupled with lateralization in nervous system, which includes functional structural specializations or sides. In case visual lateralized phenotypes frequently include left–right eye position, structure use. To investigate among bivalves, we examined systems scallop Nodipecten nodosus. We characterized different morphologies species determined eye-side frequencies. also studied anatomy focusing on parietovisceral ganglion (PVG). Our results reveal that N. nodosus comprise asymmetries: (1) a greater number eyes side, (2) increased size PVG lateral lobe, (3) larger glomeruli lobe (4) radial pallial nerves associated spaced more widely than compactly arranged lobe. addition, distinctive morphology, where optic vesicle is rotated, frequent side. Considering habit this to rest valve, hypothesize curved might contribute expanding overall field. Even though bivalves not typically considered literature lateralization, accumulating evidence for scallops, suggested by our results, indicates their potential novel patterns asymmetry benthic invertebrates.

Mitochondrial genome of the Peruvian scallop Argopecten purpuratus (Bivalvia: Pectinidae).
The mitochondrial genome of the Peruvian scallop Argopecten purpuratus was determined. The length of the mitochondrial coding region is 15,608 bp. A typical bivalve mitochondrial composition was detected with 12 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and 21 transfer RNA genes, with the absence of the atp8 gene. Fifty percent of the protein-coding genes use typical ATG start codon, whereas ...
متن کاملEvaluating the Potential of Bivalve Scallop (Bivalvia: Pectinidae: Scallop) in Biofiltration of Wastewater in Shrimp Farms from Guowater Bay, Chabahar
In this study, the Scallop bivalves were used for biofiltration of wastewater in shrimp farms during spring 2018 from Guowater Bay. Sedimentation, biological and aeration ponds were prepared for biofiltration around the main pool, then, oyster bivalves were collected from natural environment (sea) and were placed in these pools. Concentration of quality parameters were investigated in four samp...
متن کاملPolymorphic microsatellite loci isolated from the great scallop, Pecten maximus (Bivalvia: Pectinidae)
We isolated and characterized nine polymorphic microsatellite loci from the great scallop ( Pecten maximus ) as part of an attempt to better understand the population–genetic structure of this species. Levels of genetic diversity were assessed in 32 scallops collected from the coastal waters of Port Erin Bay, Isle of Man. The number of alleles ranged from two to 29 and observed and expected het...
